Integrated Fitness-Fairhope

Integrated Fitness-Fairhope is the realization of a dream to encourage healthy lifestyles as the normal way of life; to make exercise a valued part of your day. Life is a process that we learn as we go. My hope is to inspire you to make healthy choices for a life time.

How it all began

As I reflect on my past experiences to better understand what led me to my profession, I have realized formative years have a way of directing our life. The fact that obesity is a part of my family history, and genetics is something we cannot control, I was influenced to make changes toward a healthy lifestyle. I chose to make necessary lifestyle changes. In 1987 I began to be an active participant in group exercise and running. I also committed to healthy eating habits. After searching a while, I attended the University of South Alabama and received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Education and Exercise Science in 1995. In that year, I began to teach group exercise. I wanted to further my education to gain a better understanding of  body mechanics, injury prevention and kinesiology so I began a physical therapist assistance program and completed this course of study in 1997. I began competing in fitness competitions and in 1997, I won the Heart of Dixie Fitness competition. During this time, I worked to receive accreditation as an exercise specialist and personal trainer. I obtained this goal in 1999.

I have worked since 1997 in  sports conditioning, post injury rehab, and conditioning for injury prevention with  two orthopedic groups.  I have added to my personal training education by completing group exercise certifications in strength and functional training, stability ball training, indoor  cycling, core conditioning,  yoga, Pilates and pre/post natal conditioning. I am currently broadening my training in Yoga Teacher Training, RYT-200.

In May of  2009, I found the courage to branch out on my own and pursue a long term dream to open an exercise studio....Integrated Fitness-Fairhope. As science develops, my goal is to stay on top of the health & fitness industry to continue to learn and grow so that I can provide you with quality programs and education.
